The Familypark in St. Margarethen, Burgenland, is celebrating its 55th anniversary this year. The leisure facility was visited by around 90,000 people during the season, more than ever before.
Halloween in the Family Park also celebrated its anniversary this year and took place for the 10th time. Bad status. A year-long event began in 2014 in part of the park with 13,000 guests, which has grown into what is arguably the largest Halloween event of its kind in Austria. In 2023, the event lasted 12 days and a total of around 80,000 guests were put in the Halloween spirit by the scary vampire nights.
“In general, we are very satisfied with the results of the 2023 season. After the unstable weather conditions led to somewhat lower capacity utilization, especially in the first half of the season, development was very good in summer and autumn. All of them will be available from April to October and will be worth 650,000, so the third will come from abroad. “In the 2022/2023 financial year (Oct 22-Sept 23), total sales of 26 million euros were generated,” explains Lisa Wagner-Körmendi, sales manager of the family park.
As soon as the Family Park closes its gates to visitors, the first work begins on the area for the coming season, as a lot is planned again for 2024. In the themed world of adventure castle, the “Oldtimer Convoy” attraction makes room for a new swing attraction, the Wild Swing from the Swiss manufacturer ART Engineering. The family attraction offers space for 16 passengers and can accommodate children from a height of 90 cm. The name of the ride is currently a secret and will only be revealed before the start of the season.
The vintage car convoy is fully equipped and there is a new place in part of the old fairytale forest. As already reported in September, the fairytale forest will also have a new look. The former owner of the park only gave the figures designed by his father as a loan when he sold them and now wants to get them back. The park’s design team has been planning the redesign of the fairytale forest for the past few weeks. This means that park guests will continue to be able to experience various fairy tale scenes in a new way.
Things will be anything but quiet in Austria’s largest theme park over the winter months, so that all new construction and renovation work will be completed in time for the start of the season on March 23, 2024.
